She moaned softly as he pulled out and she sat back, crossing her legs and giving him a smile.

Suddenly, Longfang's ears perked up and he bolted outside, barking as if he heard something in the distance.

Jessie watched him and frowned, wrapping herself in a couple pelts then she followed him outside quietly.

His tail hung between his legs, his ears angled forward aggressively as he grolwed at a speck in the sky, growing bigger and bigger until the distinct sound of helicopter blades could be heard.

Her widened and she went to him, gently wrapping her arms around his neck, "Shhh, lets go back inside, I wont leave" She tried soothing him, gently rubbing his ears, she wouldn't admit she would like to go back, but she'd much rather stay with the wolf.

The aircraft buzzed by close enough to make out the word Rescue written in navy blue on the side, Longfang tracing it and growling threateningly until it passed them.

She whimpered softly and tried to pull him back inside, "Let them find the wreckage and think I died too, come on" She whined, shivering a little since she was sitting in the snow.

Longfang turned around and nosed Jessie's back playfully to get her to stand up, his nose almost as cold as the snowy floor.

She gave a small smile and slowly stood, beginning to walk back to the den, her tail curled around her leg.

Longfang turned back around and trotted confidently into the forest, out to fulfill some natural means of his that were a mystery to Jessie.

She glanced back and sighed, walking into the den and she started a fire, warming herself up.

His paws carried him to the helicopter wreckage by memory from the day before, cautiously peeking around before moving into the clearing. There was no sign of the flying beast.

Jessie sighed and cooked up some leftovers from earlier, quietly eating and watching the entrance for him to come back.

Some time had passed now, and the red-eyed wolf was still nowhere to be found.

Jessie whimpered, curled up under the pelts in the cave, still waiting for the wolf, she shivered a little, the fire beginning to die out.

Finally, Longfang truged through the entrance, limping, something sticking prominently out of his shoulder.

Jessie jumped up and helped him, making him lay on the pile of furs while she checked his shoulder, her ears back.

Longfang flipped over onto his side, whimpering softly. The sight lodged in his shoulder would be familiar to someone in Jessie's line of work: a needle containing more than a few cc's of tranquilizer, usually used to take down aggressive animals.

Her eyes widened and she growled softly, gently pulling it from his shoulder and throwing it off somewhere, she gently pet his head, hoping it wouldn't affect him badly.

Longfang stiffened when she removed the needle from his shoulder, but quickly relaxed again, the drugs slowly taking effect. Growling, he wished there was some way to warn her about his tracks. They could be followed. Instead, he looked up at her helplessly with a sideways glance, softly whining.

She kissed his forehead softly and sighed, "Just sleep, it'll ware off soon" She murmured, gently petting his head.

Longfang laid his head back down, but kept whining softly until he could no longer muster the energy to do so, laying his head in her lap and falling into a deep sleep.

She continued to pet his head, rubbing his ears softly and sighing, watching him with soft eyes.

Longfang occasionally twitched in his sleep, but didn't stir beyond that.

Jessie eventually leaned back and fell asleep, her hand on his side gently.
