I think it would be good to have a prologue chapter from before he leaves, and the plot starts three years after the day he disappears.

Hmm… sure!

It was the beginning of another dreary, rainy day at the Pacific Coast University. Like clockwork, Charles woke at 5 AM, preferring the extra two hours or so to tinker on various different inventions of his rather than the sleep he could be getting.

Keva sighed as she sat in her dorm, she always woke rather early in the morning so she could perfect her look, showering and brushing out her hair. Adjusting her clothes for the tenth time before glancing at the clock.

Charles had basically paid his own tuition. He hadn't necessarily been great in school after the grade he skipped- it bored him- but he already held more than two dozen patents on various useful and unheard of items, and the college was more than happy to recognize his inventive genius and pay the majority of his other fees, including room and board, so long as he agreed to be the assistant to the physics professor, Mr. Albertson.

Once she was finished, Keva glanced at the time again, realizing she didn't have a lot of time she grabbed her things and left her dorm, locking it then beginning to walk to her physics class, walking past Charles's room before she disappeared down the hall.

Charles looked at the time and realized that his latest masterpiece had nearly made him late for physics- again. Grumbling, he stood and put his backpack on his back, threw on a pair of shoes, and walked out.
