She came back to pick up the dog.

The vet was in the back yard of the clinic, one of the other vets took Tess back, outside, the vet from before was trying to get a leash on the dog, but Max kept whining and running away, well, not really running, more like speed walking with a very bad limp.

[Silver]

Tess shook her head. "He doesn't seem to like those. Here, let me get him." she said, gently approaching him and letting him smell her hand before gently rubbing behind the dog's ears, attaching the leash before he noticed.

Max backed away a bit before letting her get close, he sniffed her hand and looked up at her, his ears perked at the click of the clip on the leash, he tried pulling away and he began yelping loudly, rising up on his back paws before losing his balance and falling on his side, panting and giving a small whimper, giving up on trying to keep his distance.

[Silver]

She quickly took the leash off, seeing his discomfort, and quickly threw it over towards a tree, letting it fall so he'd know she didn't have it.

His head slowly rose from the ground, he kept panting, his black pelt shining slightly in the sunlight, he staggered to his paws and remembered that leashes were good, his master always gave him treats if he brought the leash to him, so Max limped to where the leash was on the ground, he sniffed it before taking it lightly in his jaws and limping back to her, sitting and his ears perked, he seemed to be beginning to trust her.

Her eyes widened. "Good boy..." she said, gently scratching the spot behind his ears. She hooked the leash slowly and carefully, looking back at him.

His tail gave a small wag and his foot thumped on the ground slightly, though he gave a small whine, since the pain medication had been wearing off.

[Silver]

She frowned. "Can you give him any more pain meds? He's in pain..."

[~Canadian~Bacon~]

"We can give you a bottle with some tablets that you can give him when he eats, but that's it" The vet said.

[Silver]

She nodded. "Alright. Thanks so much." she said, petting him softly.

[~Canadian~Bacon~]

The second vet went to get the bottle and brought it back, handing it to her, Max whined and backed up when the vet came near, "Since he didn't have tags when you brought him in, you get to name him" The first vet chuckled, keeping her distance so Max was comfortable.

"I guess I'll call him Lucky, in honor of all this irony..." she said, chuckling softly. She took the bottle, petting him. He was clearly afraid of the vets.

"Well, he was lucky you found him, he was getting close to death" The second vet chuckled, "You best head off so he can relax" The first said with a smile.

[Silver]

She nodded, gently letting him get up and walk himself, not pulling the leash or anything.

He noticed her start to move, he stood and began limping behind her, carrying his left back leg.

[Silver]

She went slow for him, frowning.

The newly named Lucky panted softly, the sun hitting his pelt as he limped, getting a little faster to where he was beside her.

[Silver]

She took him to her car, lifting him into the passenger's seat and walking over to the other side, hopping in and starting the jeep.

He climbed in, having a bit of trouble but he managed to get in, his tail wagged slightly and he tried sticking his head out the window, only managing to hit his head on the glass.

[Silver]

She rolled the window down a little bit for him, petting his back as she drove back to her house.

He gave a light bark and poked his nose out the window, his tongue hanging out.

[Silver]

She smiled softly, driving to her house.

He slobbered a bit on the window as he watched the passing buildings.

She chuckled, eventually getting there and parking.
